Confirmation

Confirmation proceeds from Baptism and practicing the Christian life. Because Archbishop Chaput has moved the year of celebrating Confirmation to 7th or 8th grade, there will be no celebration of that sacrament this year at Assumption BVM. Fr. Michael Davis and Msgr. Marine have decided that the sacrament of Confirmation will be celebrated in 7th grade in our two parishes. Therefore, the next time our young people will celebrate Confirmation will be in the Easter Season of 2020. Two years of consecutive study (Levels/Grades 6 and 7) and successful completion of all the requirements will be necessary for Confirmation Candidates.
In the fall semester of 2019, Red folders will be distributed to students who are preparing to celebrate Confirmation in the spring of 2020. Parents of these candidates are asked to review the folders, and to work with their young person to complete the folder and also to encourage them in acts of charity and service. They are asked to work with their students on the questions and on the basic prayers and beliefs of our Catholic faith.
